Sad news regarding Sydney P. Clark Jr.

I am saddened to inform you that Sydney P. Clark Jr., Emeritus Professor of Geology and Geophysics, passed away on December 24th, 2016. He made many fundamental contributions to geophysics, and was a pioneer in the vibrant field we now know as mineral physics. 

Geoscience lives on in the Clark family: Jordan Clark, Syd’s son (Yale ‘88) is a Professor at UC Santa Barbara who specializes in aqueous geochemistry.
